From September 2019 to February 2020 Prisma provided monitoring and evaluation services to Save the Children Armenia. Highlights of this partnership include:
Assessment of “Professional Orientation” courses
“Professional Orientation” (PO) courses, an important component to the EU-funded EU for Youth project, have been piloted in ten schools in Yerevan and across Armenian provinces with the help of Save the Children Armenia (StC). The pilot had the aim of supporting the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia (MESCS) and the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of Armenia (MLSA) in the establishment and integration of “professional orientation” into the educational system of the country. This assessment was carried out by Prisma in order to study the course activities, analyze their effectiveness as well as to provide MESCS and MLSA with recommendations regarding the institutionalization of these courses. The assessment showcased that the PO course helped about 27% of the participants to make a decision about their future profession. Moreover, comparison of the PO participants with the control group revealed that the number of children with a clear vision on their professional future was 10% higher in the first group. Along with these findings a number of practical recommendations were included in the Prisma report which will hopefully contribute to the efficient roll out of this important initiative.
Final Evaluation of “Action for Child Health and Education” project
Funded by the Medicor foundation, the “Action for Child Health and Education” project has been implemented by Save the Children from January 2017 to December 2019. The project aimed at supporting children in Armenia to learn and develop to their fullest potential. Prisma conducted the final evaluation as a means of studying the overall impact and performance of the project. The evaluation demonstrated that the expected results of the project are mostly achieved. The primary education enrollment rate in targeted communities became quite high for Armenia by reaching 81.7% (as opposed to the planned 70%). In addition, 100% of parents with children attending preschools were satisfied by the quality of services received by their children in their respective educational facilities. The evaluation also revealed that a number of legislative improvements in the area of primary and inclusive education were influenced by the professional and evidence-based campaigns carried out by StC Armenia.
